Back 4 Good – Your future in America has looked at some interesting numbers around the skill requirements of the USA for the next 10/15 years.

LinkedIn reports that by 2030, the global talent shortage could reach 85 million people -costing companies trillions of dollars in lost economic opportunities .

In the USA the skills gap is widening ,unemployment in the US is at its lowest rate since 2000 and nearly 60% of employers struggle to fill key vacancies .

The Linkedin talent blog goes on to list the 3 sectors that research has shown will be hit the hardest.

. Financial and Business Services                          -10.7 million workers short

. Technology ,Media and Telecommunications      – 4.3 million workers short

. Manufacturing                                                           7.9 million workers short

For America the shortages are happening today .America has an acute Talent problem and will  face skills shortages for many years .In the past the USA had a constant stream of human capital which attracted the best and brightest and hardworking people from around the world.

However the rest of the world has fought back and are offering very attractive and strong packages to skilled  professionals workers and in most cases are wining the Talent battle .

In many sectors in the US the Talent crisis has arrived with current estimates in the cybersecuirty industry for example pointing out that there will be 3.5 million unfilled positions in the industry by 2021 .

While the US economy becoming a perpetual job-generating machine with job growth averaging at 208,000 per month and unemployment at its lowest since 1969 at 3.7% workers are running out fast.

In July 2018 American employers posted a record 6.9 million job openings ,which actually exceeded the number of unemployed people and like the rest to the world American employers are finding out that skilled professionals are very hard to find .

With a drive to limit immigration by the administration this situation will only get worst and employers are looking for innovative solutions to address this skills issue.
